The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Leader.

Although not quite at the same level as granting clemency to holiday birds, but the county's top official experienced a presidential-style act this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She deserves this act of mercy. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with clear references to the extraordinary and sizable number of executive clemencies issued from the start of the commencement of a current administration.

“If we disregard eating half a dozen apples per day,” the mayor added. “I hope she experiences a long and happy life free from concern.”

The gathering, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to emulate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The swine, donated by a local firefighter, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming “6-7” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often without clear purpose. The craze became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently made “six-seven” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

Six Seven the pig is now destined to live out its days at a rural sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to begin the holiday season,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.

“It captures the character of Miami: vibrant, diverse, and based in heritage that unite the community. Every time, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”

Guests enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach fritters and cafecito as they marked the pig's pardon.
